TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT: TROPICAL STORM “BUTCHOY”

Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “BUTCHOY” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 880 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (11.0 °N, 134.7 °E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 24 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “BUTCHOY” is expected to be at 560 km East of Virac, Catanduanes by tomorrow morning. It will be at 320 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes by Saturday morning and by Sunday morning, it will be at 310 km Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan. |
