“HELEN” was estimated at 230 km East Northeast of
Casiguran, Aurora (16.8

Strength:

Maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center
and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

Movement:

Forecast to move West Northwest at 13 kph.

Forecast Positions:

Tropical Storm “HELEN” is expected to be at 50 km
North Northeast of Tuguegarao City by tomorrow
morning and at 270 km West Southwest of Basco,
Batanes by Thursday morning. By Friday morning, it is
expected to be at 550 km Northwest of Basco,
Batanes.

At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm
“BUTCHOY” was estimated based on satellite
and surface data at 880 km  East of Guiuan,
Eastern Samar (11.0
°N, 134.7
°E).

Strength:

Maximum sustained winds of  85 kph near the
center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

Movement:

Forecast to move West Northwest at 24 kph.

Forecast Positions:

Tropical Storm “BUTCHOY” is expected to be at
560 km East of Virac, Catanduanes by tomorrow
morning. It will be at 320 km Northeast of Virac,
Catanduanes by Saturday morning and by
Sunday morning, it will be at 310 km Northeast of
Aparri, Cagayan.

At 8:00 a.m. today, the Shallow Low Pressure Area (SLPA) was estimated based on satellite and surface data 210 km East of Northern Mindanao (9.5°N 128.0°E),while the Southwest Monsoon continues to affect Luzon. These weather systems will bring scattered to widespread rains over Northern Mindanao and the western section of Northern and Central Luzon.

Residents living in low lying areas and along mountain slopes are advised to be on alert for possible occurrence of flashfloods and landslides.

Meanwhile, a Tropical Storm (GUCHOL) was estimated 1,370 km East of Mindanao (9.3°N, 140.7°E) or over the Caroline Islands with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness up to 80 kph. It is moving Westward at 15 kph and is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow or early Friday and shall be named "BUTCHOY".

The next update will be incorporated in the public weather forecast at 5:00 p.m. today while the next advisory will be issued at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
